13 Years of Honor and the good fortune to make it another year!
For the Fourth year in a row, the Executive Officers from the State of IL MOPH have attended the Annual Harold Zahn Purple Heart Memorial race. Along with the Ladies Auxiliary members, several Patriots including IL Finance Officer Daniel Finn, Jr Vice Commander “BIG” Jim Wiginton, Sgt at Arms Phil Galvan, along with Patriot Rich O’Brien, we did at the invitation of Patriot Zahn’s son Dale participate as the Honor Guard for the opening ceremony. We also too were welcomed like extended family to have a finish photo taken in the “Winner’s Circle” along with the placing of the Memorial blanket, which is traditionally given to the driver. President of the LAMOPH – IL Christina Finn aka “The Pillow MOM” along with our IL Treasurer Kathy O’Brien, Jane and Sharon Galvan our State Marshal keeping us all in order, were also present.
The 13th Annual Harold Zahn Purple Heart Race Event; *(Side Note) Finance Officer Dan Finn bet on the #2 horse in the ninth race and came up a winner, as did Rich O’Brien and Jane! The name of the horse was “I’m a Dan Fool!” So the 13th year truly did turn out lucky for our group! Thank You Dale for your gracious invitation, FUN was had by ALL! Lucky Ladies Sharon & Jane had the opportunity to ride in the official Starting Gate Car, they were thrilled. Thanks Dale for making this happen!
It was a wonderful evening of fellowship, friendship and Remembrance of Patriot Harold Zahn whom truly “Made a Difference,” through his continued Service even after his wartime obligation! RIP Sir!
