The Village of Oak Lawn has declared themselves a Purple Heart Community. It is the first ever Purple Heart community anywhere with the state borders of The Land of Lincoln. With the tremendous vigor of a Veteran Friendly Family community the Village of OL wholeHEARTEDLY embrace this initiative. Under the leadership of the newly installed Village President / Mayor Dr Bury along with the Village Trustees a Oak Lawn proclamation was drafted to recognize our “Combat Wounded” Veterans and Gold Star Families.
Tuesday evening, June 25th brought The Military Order of the Purple Heart; Chapter # 575 and Ladies Auxiliary Unit # 575 of Oak Lawn, IL together with the patriotic citizens of OL, to hear the stated Village of Oak Lawn Purple Heart proclamation….
Newly Elected State of IL MOPH Commander John S Kapior addressed those in attendance and Thanked the Village of Oak Lawn & Mayor Bury on behalf of ALL Purple Heart recipients.
Delicious Purple Heart sugar cookies were provided to celebrate this occasion. Infamous Wolf Bakery
of Evergreen Park came to the LAMOPH IL President Christina Finn’s rescue with a last minute custom order. Of course they came though with a delicious confection to lift the spirits of any consumer young and old combined.
